Before you can begin controlling devices with your voice, you will first need to connect your Google Assistant-enabled device with SmartRent. Check out our How Do I Integrate Google Assistant with my SmartRent System? article to get started. A full list of Google Assistant commands can be found on google.com. The actions a device can handle vary depending on the type of device.
Google Assistant Commands:
To start a command, simply say “Ok, Google!” or “Hey, Google!” followed by the desired command. These are a few examples of commands you can use in your SmartRent ecosystem:
Lighting:
- “Ok, Google, turn on the kitchen lights”
- “Ok, Google, turn off the living room lights”
- “Ok, Google, set lights to 50%”
Air Conditioning and Heating:
- “Ok, Google, set the thermostat to cool/heat/auto/off”
- Google Assistant can not turn your HVAC on or off; instead, instruct Google Assistant to “set thermostat to off” or “set thermostat to cool/heat/auto”
- “Ok, Google, set the thermostat to 75 degrees”
- “Ok, Google, what is my thermostat set to?”
Locks:
- “Ok, Google, lock the front door”
For security purposes, Google Assistant can NOT unlock a door
