What Are the Different Types of Guest Access Codes?

Using the SmartRent Resident Mobile App, you can create access codes for your guests to allow them to open doors in your community without having to escort them yourself. There are different types of access codes depending on your needs.

Please note: Only people officially listed on your community's lease agreement will be able to create a SmartRent Resident account. Spouses, partners, older children, or roommates may still have access to the home and community using Guest Access Codes. For more information on providing access to someone not on your lease, please refer to our article “How Do I Create Guest Access Codes in the SmartRent Mobile App?

Types of Guest Access Codes:

Permanent Code:

This type of guest is permanent and will need to be manually revoked by the resident. This code is ideal for individuals who live in your home (spouse, child, roommate, etc.) but are not on your lease.

Temporary Code:

This type of guest will have access automatically revoked after a specified amount of time. This code is typically used for a one-time visiting guest.

Recurring Code:

This type of code grants temporary and recurring access within a specified timeframe. This code can be ideal for a frequent service such as a dog walker or cleaning service.

Delivery Code:

This type of code is a temporary, one-time code that will become inactive once the code is used. This is typically used for delivery services.

The types of access codes available will depend on the community.
