If the internet goes down:
If your local internet in your unit goes offline for any reason, the SmartRent app will attempt to connect via cellular backup that is plugged into the SmartRent Hub. It is possible that the cellular connection is not very strong in your home and you may notice that the devices have a more delayed reaction.
If the power goes out:
If the power goes out to your unit, the hub will go offline and you will see that offline status indicated in your app. You will no longer have the ability to control your smart devices via the mobile app until the hub goes back online.
Your thermostat and HVAC run off power so these will be rendered unusable until the power goes back on. The thermostat does run on batteries as a backup though, so you may notice that the screen still displays the current temperature and settings.
Your front door lock will still be fully usable as it runs off batteries, and all of your codes on the lock will still work. You will NOT, however, be able to control the lock in the app, delete codes, or add any new codes until the lock comes back online.
